Vapor World Over The Mind Paslow Overhaul Watch

What already shipped after Next Fest—and the visual pass still coming.

Paslow Overhaul Watch

ALIVE Inc. told players two related truths after Steam Next Fest: Paslow’s movement was being rebuilt from the ground up, and a full visual and animation overhaul is still on the road ahead. This page separates what you can feel today from what remains a “what’s next” promise.

Movement overhaul that already landed

The first public patch after festival feedback completed an initial chunk of the controls and movement rewrite. Character weight, movement speed, and action transitions were reworked enough that developers said you would feel the difference the moment you pick up a controller. For players, that means:

  • Relearn sprint exits, roll distance, and jump timing using controls.
  • Do not trust festival skip routes or cancel habits blindly.
  • Re-warm deflection on regular Traumas with how to parry because connect frames sit on new transition timing.

Tutorials for rolling and sprinting shipped in the same wave because too many demo players never found those verbs. Complete them even as a veteran.

Combat and stealth companions to the rebuild

The same notes reworked certain boss attacks that could not be blocked or dodged into proper parryable patterns, retuned enemy rhythm, and fixed stealth detection through cover. Movement changes without fairness changes would have felt cruel; fairness changes without movement changes would have felt incomplete. Practice both together: movement drills in empty halls, then cover tests from how to stealth, then Seed attempts guided by the boss guide.

Visual and animation overhaul still ahead

Developers teased that Paslow is getting a full visual and animation overhaul—new concept, new animations, new presence. That pass may arrive before or during Early Access windows; treat dates as fluid until Steam news names a build. When it lands, expect:

  • Hitbox and hurtbox feel to shift slightly with new animation timing.
  • Trailer comparisons to look outdated overnight.
  • A short re-learning tax even for players who mastered the post-fest movement chunk.

Naming and presentation history

Community and press materials have used different descriptive angles for the protagonist and arsenal over time. Current Steam-facing messaging centers Paslow inside the dream. Older preview pieces sometimes emphasize industrial-era weapons or alternate naming. For wiki consistency we follow the live Steam identity and note older labels only when they help you parse outdated videos. Character framing lives on Paslow.

How to prepare without the new model yet

  1. Master the post-fest movement chunk now—waiting for prettier animations does not teach timing.
  2. Keep Projection loadouts simple using best builds so a later animation retune does not erase five muscle-memory tools at once.
  3. Record Seeds with both video and notebook so you can compare pre- and post-overhaul tells.
  4. Watch official trailers for silhouette only; practice on Traumas.

Early Access expectations

Steam still targets Early Access on August 18, 2026 with roughly five hours of Prologue through early Episode 2. A presentation overhaul does not automatically expand that scope. Track scope on the roadmap and install readiness via system requirements.

Why this page exists separately from patch notes

Patch notes summarize shipped changes. This watch page tracks an announced direction that may span multiple builds. Separating them keeps the Updates Hub readable: one page for “what changed,” one for “what is being rebuilt next,” plus the roadmap for content volume.

Feedback channels

If a new Paslow build breaks a previously fair parry, report it with video through destinations on official links. Quote the build and describe the old timing versus new timing in one sentence each.

Paslow is both avatar and promise. The dream already moves differently than the first festival build; the next promise is that he will look and animate like the character ALIVE Inc. has been reaching for all along.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Early Access players and newcomers.

Did the movement overhaul already ship?

An initial post–Next Fest chunk shipped publicly. Keep re-checking patch notes for further movement and presentation passes.

Will the visual overhaul change combat?

New animations often shift timing. Plan a short re-learn period and retest Seeds after it lands.

Should I wait to learn the game until the new Paslow art ships?

No. Learn deflection, stealth, and room reading now; presentation passes are easier when fundamentals already exist.
